CHOOSE YOUR WORKFLOW
DuoCanvas, Grid Post & SCRL.
Different tools. Different ideas.
A practical comparison of photo layout workflows.
Prepared by the DuoCanvas developer · DuoCanvas updated October 12, 2026 · Competitor sources reviewed September 29, 2026
What each app helps you make
All three apps offer photo collages and carousel-related tools. The important distinction is how you build a layout, which extras you need, and what is included for free.
On a small screen, swipe the table horizontally. “Not confirmed” means the reviewed listing does not establish the exact workflow; it does not mean the app cannot do it.
Two meanings of “freeform”
DuoCanvas divides a photo or canvas into regions using your drawn lines, then exports the pieces or fills the regions with photos. SCRL describes an open canvas for layered arrangements. Neither workflow is inherently better; choose based on the composition you want.

DuoCanvas does not currently offer freeform video shapes, sequential video merging, mixed audio from both clips, stickers, or photo filters. Text is available in fixed and freeform photo collages. Video collages play the two trimmed selections together and end with the shorter selection.
